1,5kW system for a luxury yacht with Multiplus 3kVA

A very exciting project to power a beautiful charter yacht with a solar system of 1,5kW (12V).

ExSolar’s team installed the complete system to power the boat for the Madagascar diving and fishing charter tours.

The system consisted of:

6 x 250W solar panels
2 x MPPT solar chargers 60A 12-48V
8 x Solar Batteries Lead-Crystal 100Ah/12V
1 x Inverter/Charger MultiPlus 12/3000/120-50 230V
Solar cable and connectors
Battery cables
Solar power board with mini breaker box
Aluminium mounting frame for solar panels
Accessories (screws, conduits, etc.)

Solar system with a prepaid meter and grid tie limiter

An exciting project for the solar system in a residential property with a pre-paid meter.

The challenge, as in many residential and commercial establishments, is to design a system that would be able to work with a prepaid meter.

Pre-paid electricity meters do not see the direction of the current, so when the customer has a solar system that at any stage is overproducing the power and start to push back to the grid – the pre-paid meter sees that as a standard electricity usage and bills one for the energy the PV systems produces.

To avoid this situation ExSolar connected the Fronius solar grid inverter to our very own Smart Energy Controller (Grid Tie Limiter), that has the ability to either re-direct the overproduced energy to specific appliance (like a geyser or a pool pump) or limit the production of the PV panels to meet the energy consumption needs of the client.

The system consisted of the following:

12 x 300W solar panels and aluminium mounting structures
1 x Fronius 35V-1 Solar Grid Inverter (3.710kW)
1 x Smart Energy Controller (Energy Monitor for grid tie limiting) with an Energy Monitor WiFi Module
Solar cable, connectors DC fuses, breakers
Saddles, cable ties, insulating flashing, silicon sealant, raw bolts, mains isolator, bus bar cable

This 3kw solar panel system was installed by the proficient and friendly team at ExSolar for a family home in Durbanville.
The system consisted of:
  • 12 x 250W 24V solar panels
  • 1 x Solar Controller – Grid Tie Inverter (3kw)
  • 12 x Battery 12V, 200Ah Lead Crystal Battery Bank
  • MultiPlus  48/5000/70 230V Inverter
  • Solar cable, mounting frames, connectors DC fuses, 20A AC breaker
  • Saddles, cable ties, insulating flashing, silicon sealant, raw bolts, mains isolator, bus bar cable

Grid tie solar system in Durbanville

A 3.5KW project for the grid tie solar system in Durbanville, Cape Town
The ExSolar team connected the Fronius 3.7KW solar grid inverter to an old energy meter system in order to push back excess power generated by the solar panels mounted on the roof to the grid.
The system consisted of the following:
  •  14 x 250W solar panels and aluminium mounting structures
  • 1 x Fronius 35V-1 Solar Grid Inverter (3.710kW)
